Malta is Europe's Worst Recycler

Malta is Europe's worst recycler, only 6.7% of all waste in malta  despite there being a push towards better waste management, to put it in context the average in Europe is 45%.  The Environment Minister said that recycling would become compulsory under new waste legislation that is currently being drafted.

Recycling Roundup 4th December

A brand new recycling service in Bath and North East Somerset has seen levels of recycling in the area rocket, since the new service started on the 6th November an extra 10 tonnes of rubbish have been collected on each day.  The new service has proven so popular that the council  have had to hire more staff to distribute boxes.

Belgium is Streets Ahead When it Comes to Recycling

Leeds Council Considers Its Options Over Falling Recycling Rates

Leeds council are reviewing the city's recycling strategy after the recycling rates in the city plummeted.  After reaching 44% in the last decade, the rates dropped to 38% in the last 2 years and it now looks like they are going to fail with the national target of 50% by 2020.

Recycle Your Remembrance Poppies at Sainsburys

Sainsbury's have been supporting the Poppy Appeal for more than 20 years and raised £3.2 million through collections and selling of merchandise last year.  Sainsbury's are the only place you can recycle poppies, they can be broken down and recycled or repurposed into new poppies for the following year.

Isle of Wight Council Urge Residents to Recycle their Food Waste

The Isle of Wight Council has joined forces with a Amey to encourage people to make good use of their food recycling.  Figures now show that UK households throw 7.3 million tonnes of food every year.  The council say that they think residents don't realise how much of a difference they can make by recycling their food waste.

With a focus on councils trying to save money, a council in North East Lincolnshire hope to save £430,000 by reducing the collection frequency to align with 75% of councils already, they have found an extra 20 tonnes of recycling were collected when a new fortnightly collection started.

Concerns About Data Security Stop People Recycling Electronics
