The Recycling Association has said it believes that supermarkets could be doing a lot more to reduce packaging waste than they currently are.

Recycling, composting and the reusing of waste in Scotland has risen to above 60% for the first time, the government is pleased the country is striding towards their target of 70% by 2025. The chief executive of Zero Waste Scotland has said they are happy with Scotland making progress towards a circular economy and have acknowledged the work done by councils and other agencies.
November's recycling challenge is to recycle more furniture, there are many ways to get rid of unwanted furniture like calling your local council to come and collect your old. But there are many other ways like donating to a local charity shop, upcycling or just advertising it for free for someone to collect.
Our new series looks at setting a new recycling challenge each month, October is metal recycling. Cheshire Council are determined to spread the message that metal matters, if all the metal packaging was recycled in Cheshire it would be the equivalent of taking over 1000 cars off the road.
