Manchester's recycling rate has increased in the last year by 8% through the introduction of the new 'slim bins.' The residents received new 140 litre wheelie bins to replace their old 240 litre. The council are saying that not only has this increased the recycling rate but also created a saving of almost £2.4 million.
Manchester are one of the biggest football clubs in the world but they are more than just that, in 2000 they started an environmental journey to help them become more sustainable, for example rainwater which is collected is used to irrigate the pitch and any food waste is sent to be composted.
