George at ASDA has launched a clothes recycling scheme that will give customers rewards for bringing back their unwanted clothes. In partnership with Yellow Octopus Group which helps businesses become more sustainable. ASDA Northern Ireland has a scheme where customers receive a 10% off voucher which they can use online at George. Customers just have to locate a participating store then they can get a label or QR code so they can drop off their old and unwanted items.

UK supermarket chain Asda are going to be phasing out single use plastic bags by the end of this year and making 100% of its own brand packaging recyclable by 2025. Asda will be the first to take this action on plastic with similar retailers following in the near future.
The supermarket sector is a very competitive market when it comes to sales, but sustainability is where supermarkets like to excel. Asda, who are one of the largest in the UK have set some pretty high targets for themselves including the creation of zero waste. With their scheme, since 2005 Asda have managed to to reduce their energy use by 33% and their newer stores by 45%.
