Network Rail are just about to launch a new campaign for coffee cup recycling in their stations, during the pandemic the amout of users reduced but now customers are on the rise making this a perfect time for this initiave to be launched
A company that is working on innovating ways to recycle takeaway cups has won an entrepeneurs award. They use a technique which heats the cup to a very high temperature in the absence of oxygen, this can then be broken down into gas and bio-oil to produce energy.
Costa Coffee is set to become the first coffee chain in the UK to pledge it will recycle the same amount of disposable cups as it sells with the aim to stop the huge number already ending up in landfill which is currently around 500 million. The company director is hoping that doing this will dispel the myth about coffee cups not being reyclable.
Dorset residents are being encouraged to recycle their empty coffee cups as well as food and drinks cartons at the designated recycling banks across the county. They are being encourage to use reusable cups when they go and buy their hot drinks because most coffee shops allow the use of their own cup.
With almost 5 billion aluminium cans sold each year in the UK and 42% recycled, there is a still a long way to go ensure cans do not end up in landfill, this weeks DIY project takes large coffee cans and turns them into stylish planters for your home.
