Shredding Paper: Good for Your Business and for the Environment

Although most businesses have made the move from paper to storing everything digitally but there are still some companies which prefer to maintain paper files.  Around 99% of shredded paper is recycled but also helps keep sensitive information from falling into the wrong hands.  Every tonne of paper that is recycled, 4 barrels of oil are saved which on average can power a hoke for 6 months.

Calls for a New Approach to Packaging

Recycling the waste at its source is one of the viable options being put forward to combatting UK's litter problem, Axion has launched a design for recycling service which aims to produce packaging that is easier to recycle but still being able to protect the products.  The UK exported 70% of its plastic packaging waste mainly to the far east and with China issuing a ban other options are going to have to be considered.

Will There Be National Standards Set for Recycling

Michael Gove is considering introducing national standards to end local authorities freedom to determine what they can and cannot recycle, for example some recycle every type of plastic compared to some others not recycing plastic at all.  It is said that standardising recycling services will improve the overall recycling rate in England.

Research has shown that despite millennials are more likely to pay for a sustainable product they are less likely to recycle than people in other age groups.  Veolia carried out a survey which found that young people aged 18-24 are the most uncaring generation when it comes to recycling.

Schools Go Green
