Germany is Experiencing a 'Beer Bottle Shortage'

During the summer Germans have drunk so much beer that the breweries are running out of glass bottles, demand for beer is so high at the moment that it is exceeding the rate of the bottle return scheme.  One employee told a TV network that one company is sending out company delivery drivers to try and find some empty beer bottles.

Malaga Says No to Single-Use Glass

The city council of Malaga say that almost 50% of the waste generated comes from hotels, bars, and clubs and is made up of glass bottles and containers that are only used once.  They have paired up with Ecovidiro to launch a recycling campaign which gives recycling containers to establishments to make the collection of glass easier.

According to WRAP, 25% of the waste produced in England is produced by businesses, you may recycle everything at home but do you do the same whilst at work?   One of the first things to do if you do not already have one is to find a contractor to collect your recycling who are registered with the Environment Agency.

The Biggest Ever Recycling Challenge

The PepsiCo Foundation has joined forces with The Recycling Partnership to launch the largest ever industry-wide residential recycling challenge in the US, the project has over 2800 communities taking part and has around $100 million in backing, funds raised from the scheme will be used to provide larger recycling solutions to big cities such as Miami and Florida.

Aluminium Can Recycling Could Reach 85% by 2020

A new report has been released which says by 85% of aluminium cans will be recycled by 2020, the report has called for measures to be taken, this includes more consistency for kerbside collections.  Some good news, the International Aluminium Institute said that 75% of the aluminium that has ever been produced is still in circulation now.
