Slim Bins Boost Manchester's Recycling Rates

Manchester's recycling rate has increased in the last year by 8% through the introduction of the new 'slim bins.'  The residents received new 140 litre wheelie bins to replace their old 240 litre.  The council are saying that not only has this increased the recycling rate but also created a saving of almost £2.4 million.
