Christmas Recycling is All Fun and Games in Blackburn

Blackburn with Darwen Council has asked residents to take part in a fun festive competition which will give them the chance to win a cash price while educating them of how to dispose of their Christmas rubbish in an environmentally-friendly way.

As part of the game, residents have to go online and help Santa sort his rubbish. Everyone who plays will be entered into a prize draw to be in with a chance of winning a top prize of £500 or one of five £100 runner-up prizes.

The initiative is part of the council’s efforts to increase recycling rates in the borough which are currently around 30%.

A local councillor said that the council knows that residents need a bit of festive cheer and it wanted to do something to lift their spirits. It has partnered with SUEZ recycling and recovery UK to offer the cash prizes.

If you live in the Blackburn or Darwen area, go to the council’s new recycling website to be in a with a chance to win!
